授業目標

The students should explore the scientific literature concerning the fundamental scientific knowledge in superconductivity. To achieve this, following a detailed introduction into the fundamental concepts of superconductivity, we will refer to the primary scientific literature in English and especially on high impact published work which the students should aim to comprehend, summarize and present to others in a concise meaningful way.
For the later part of the course, the specific plan will be:
1. Read specified published work in English chosen from high-impact journals such as Nature and Science reporting the most significant breakthroughs in this field such as the discovery of high-Tc superconductivity, the discovery of iron-based superconductors, the discovery of fullerene superconductivity, and the discovery of superconductivity close to room temperature.
2. Present a short summary written report to be distributed to other students.
3. Construct a ppt presentation and present this to the class. Answer questions and participate in the general scientific discussion.
4. Reciprocally attend the presentations of other members of the class, ask questions relevant and participate in the ongoing discussion.

As detailed above, the work to be presented and discussed in the classes will be all undertaken as homework. Reading the published article, making summary report to be distributed, and preparing ppt file for scientific presentation.

成績評価

Assessment will be based on the overall performance for each presentation (40%), written report (30%) and discussion (30%) undertaken by the students
